Silverstone to host MotoGP in UK from 2010

Silverstone Circuits Limited has signed a five year agreement with Dorna Sports, the commercial and television rights holder for MotoGP, which will see the Northamptonshire circuit host the British Grand Prix from 2010.
Having hosted MotoGP between 1977 and 1986, Silverstone is no stranger to the top flight of two-wheeled sport, and the classic battle of 1979 between Kenny Roberts and Barry Sheene is one which sticks in many an older fan´s memory.
Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, is thrilled to see top flight motorcycle racing back on the calendar at the Home of British Motor Racing.
Phillips commented, `Silverstone is the UK´s premier motor racing venue and we are thoroughly looking forward to hosting the world´s premier motorcycle racing event from 2010. We have worked closely with Dorna Sports to bring MotoGP to Silverstone and both parties are extremely excited about the opportunity to take this world-class event to another level.´
`Silverstone is a unique UK race circuit; rich in heritage and unrivalled in terms of what we are able to offer fans, championships and teams. The Grand Prix circuit offers a combination of high speed straights and technical corners, presenting a real challenge to the riders, while the facilities for teams and spectators are second to none.´
`The circuit is also recognised as being one of the most easily accessible in the world. All of these factors, along with Silverstone´s vast experience of hosting world class international events, contributed to MotoGP coming to Silverstone.´
Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta stated: `We are delighted that the MotoGP World Championship is returning to Silverstone as of 2010. The venue has excellent facilities and a circuit with a great heritage, having hosted some superb Grand Prix racing in the 1970s and 1980s. We are sure that MotoGP´s visits to the UK will continue to be highly successful when we make the historic move back to Silverstone next year.´

Le GP d’Angleterre à Silverstone en 2010
Les propriétaires du circuit ont signé un contrat de 5 ans avec la Dorna,
promoteur du MotoGP, qui verra donc le circuit de Northamptonshire servir de théâtre au Grand Prix d’Angleterre dès 2010.
Ayant hébergé les Grand Prix entre 1977 et 1986, Silverstone n’est pas
inconnu des fans de deux-roues. Entre autres, le légendaire duel de 1979 qui opposa Sheene à Roberts est resté gravé dans la mémoire de nombreux fans.
Richard Philips, directeur de l’organisation Silvertone Circuits Limited,
est ravi de voir l’élite du sport Moto de retour à son calendrier. Ce
dernier a déclaré :
"Silvertone est un haut lieu du sport mécanique au Royaume Uni et nous
espérions vraiment héberger le Championnat à partir de 2010. Nous avons travaillé en étroite collaboration avec la Dorna pour avoit le MotoGP ici, et au final, nous sommes tous très excités à l’idée d’avoir une telle opportunité pour pouvoir placer cet évènement international à un autre niveau."
"Silverstone est un circuit unique au Royaume-Uni, riche en histoire et sans égal par rapport à ce que nous sommes capables d’offrir aux fans, aux teams et au championnat. Le tracé du GP offre une combinaison de lignes droites très rapides, et de virages techniques, qui représentent un vrai défi pour les pilotes, tandis que les installations pour les équipes et les spectateurs sont excellentes."
"Le circuit est également reconnu comme l’un des plus accessibles au monde. Tout ceci, avec la grande expérience que nous avons pour héberger des évènements internationaux, ont contribué à la décision de faire courir le MotoGP ici."
Le CEO de la Dorna, Carmelo Ezpeleta, déclare : "Nous sommes heureux du retour du Championnat à Silverstone en 2010. Le coin a d’excellentes
infrastructures, et le circuit un bel héritage. Il a été le théâtre de
superbes Grand Prix dans les années 70 – 80. Nous sommes sûrs que le rendez vous Anglais du MotoGP sera encore plus fréquenté lorsque nous reviendrons a Silverstone l’année prochaine."
