WORLD SUPERBIKES News Wednesday, 19th April 2006
No Biaggi at Monza.
Former MotoGP star and four-times 250cc world champion, Max Biaggi, will not be taking part in the Monza round of the World Superbike championship.
Rumours of what would have been an immensely popular one-off ride circulated shortly after a full 2006 deal with Alstare Suzuki collapsed, but the Roman - while admitting that he "would have really liked to be part of this project" - has declared that there was never a serious proposal in place.
"I have heard and read about the possibility of me riding in the WSBK Championship at Monza," Max wrote on his official website. "To be honest there was not even a real proposal, it's just a rumour as usual. Even if I would really liked to be part of this project. I'm telling you this so as not to disappoint my fans or just two wheels lovers, that (might) believe this was true information."
Nevertheless, Biaggi - a winner of 13 premier-class races - continues to "train hard with Supermotard, in order to be ready to jump on a bike as soon as possible" and is thought to be planning a full 2007 racing return in either MotoGP or WSBK.
