MACHINE SPECIFICATION

In choosing to build a V6 Blata breaks new ground in MotoGP. With more cylinder and valves than the dominant Honda RC211V engine it might be assumed that the Czech company are planning to out do HRC from the word go. This is not the case, the engine choice has been made with the aim of producing goodpower certainly but with a number of other considerations in mind.

Six cylinders does not in fact make the design overly complex, it is a straightforward layout with the crankshaft running across the frame. The gear drivencams control four valves per cylinder and the normal dry clutch and six-speed gearbox provide the transmission.

The six cylinder layout does bring with it a weight penalty and fuel considerations within the MotoGP regulations but this has been taken into consideration. The weight penalty is there because getting power from a six is easier than with fewer cylinders and while fuel consumption is a factor the engineers are confident that it will not be a crippling problem.

Technical partner contracts have not yet been finalised but there is everychance that those involved with WCM currently and in the past will be again and those companies include; Brembo - brakes, Carrillo - rods, 2D - datarecording, Giannelli - exhaust, MRA - screen, Ohlins - suspension, STM - clutch, Titan - fasteners, Toby - steering damper, Vaz - chain and sprockets, Wiseco - pistons, and wheels from BST and PVM.

Details such as V angle, bore and stroke, valve sizes etc will remain confidential at this stage.
