Lorenzo and Barbera to join Aprilia in 2006
News, 05/11/05
Spanish riders Jorge Lorenzo and Hector Barbera will swap machinery for next season, moving from Honda to Aprilia as the Noale-based manufacturer announced today that it will provide official Aprilia RSW 250 machines to the team managed by Dani Amatriain.
Giampiero Sacchi, Piaggio Group racing management director, said: “It's very positive for the Aprilia. A great team has accepted to undertake a new challenge with Aprilia and it's great to see two young promising riders joining our family again. Jorge got some great results with Derbi in the past, as did Hector with Aprilia.”
“With riders like Jorge and Hector, we obviously have very high aims. Aprilia will do everything to make this new venture successful, even if there will be other Aprilia factory riders involved in our 2006 effort. Anyway, today is a great day for us, we are pleased to work with two great riders and a great team.”
