Isle of Man TT: Record breaking Hutchinson wins Junior Supersport




The records fell again this morning as Ian Hutchinson rode to victory on his Honda CBR600.


Hutchinson took the lead from New Zealander Bruce Anstey in dramatic fashion after the lap two pitstops when Anstey's GSX-R600 failed to restart immediately. Anstey had been leading from John McGuinness with Hutchinson third looking like a repeat of yesterday's superstock race.


HM Plant rider, Hutchinson, took the race record, knocking 34.62 off the record to complete the four lap 37.73 mile race in 1hour 13min 28.11sec.
After the race Hutchinson said: "Wow! The first two laps I saw P3 and thought 'what is it with P3 I could at least get a second.


"I'm over the moon. HM PLant have given me a chance and I'm just glad I have got my fitness back. I can't believe it."


John McGuinness took another second and his third podium in as many days. He rode a solid race and stayed second throughout.


He said: "I really enjoyed the race. I tried my best from the start and had some good runs over the mountain. Hutchinson deserves it but I had a really bad run past some of the slower riders and got held up."


third place Guy Martin is now the lap holder after McGuinness, Anstey and then himself went faster on the final lap. He recorded a 125.161 and he said: "It's good but I have not won 'owt by it. I didn't think I could ride the old girl (his Honda 600) any harder."

Lap 4:
Hutchinson wins 2.84secs from McGuinness as three riders go over 125mph to break the lap record again
Hutchinson leads by 6.65sec at the Ramsey Hairpin from McGuinness. Martin is 8.48ses behind the leader while Anstey is 10.88secs down.
At the Sulby speedtrao Hutchinson is fastest again, matching his lap three speed of 169.900. Anstey is faster again at 166.900 compared to lap three's speed of 166.500.
By Glen Helen Hutchinson leads by 5.80secs from McGuinness. Martin is third with Anstey fourth now 11.38secs down on the leader.
Parrett has retired at Quarterbridge. BSB's Steve Plater moves up to 9th after the retirement of Parrett.


Lap 3:
Top 10 after lap 3: Hutchinson, McGuinness, Martin, Anstey, Parrett, Farquhar, Beattie, Cummins, Palmer, Lougher (Parrett's time penalty not yet added).
McGuinness leads on the road but Hutchinson is still in the overall lead on time after a 18:48.58 (120.353mph) lap. McGuinness is now 5.04secs behind on time.
Anstey has pulled back two seconds already heading to Ramsey Hairpin. Hutchinson now leads McGuinness by 2.17secs with Martin in third.
Hutchinson is the fastest man past the Sulby Speedtrap again at 169.900. Anstey is now a man on a mission as he tries to make up the lost time at 166.500, faster than his previous two laps.
Ian Hutchinson leads by 0.39sec going into Glen Helen ahead of McGuinness. Anstey is fourth behind Guy Martin after his pit stop nightmare 12.24secs down on the leader.


Lap 2:
Top 10 after lap 2: Anstey, McGuinness, Hutchinson, Martin, Farquhar, Parrett, Beattie, Cummins, Palmer, Lougher.
Drama in the pits as Anstey's Suzuki GSX-R600 fails to restart. He gets it going half way down the pit lane after a push start. He has lost 23 seconds between the Bungalow and the pits. Parrett received a 10sec stop-box penalty.
Leader Anstey breaks the lap record again at 125.041mph (18.06.27) just after McGuinness had broken it with a 124.763.
Ryan Farquhar and McGuinness fly through Ramsey Hairpin together as Kiwi Anstey extends his lead to 7.39secs from McGuinness. Hutchinson reclaims third. Manx men Conoer Cummins and Chris Palmer are eighth and ninth respectively.
Hutchinson matches his lap one fastest time past the Sulby Speedtrap to record another 168.600mph. Beattie is the second fastest at 167.800mph while leader Anstey travels at 165.700mph.
Anstey extends his lead again to 4.73secs ahead of McGuinness.
Michael Rutter retires at Crosby Hotel.

Top 10 after lap 1: Anstey, McGuinness, Martin, Hutchinson, Beattie, Farquhar, Parrett, Cummins, Lougher, Palmer.
Michael Dunlop, son of Joey, retires from the race at Ramsey.
Anstey carried on his form from yesterday as he breaks the lap record of 18:15.61 set by John McGuinness last year. Anstey's lap took 18:14.90 at a speed of 124.055mph. McGuinness is second with a 18:16.98 and 123.820mph.


Bruce Anstey extends his lead to 3.14secs ahead of McGuinness at Ramsey hairpin. Nigel eattie moves in to fifth palce on times while Guy Martin climbs to third ahead of Hutchinson on time.
Ian Hutchinson is the fastest man at the Sulby Speedtrap at 168.600 on his Honda CBR600.


Bruce Anstey leads the race giong to Glen Helen on lap one from John McGuinness and Ian Hutchinson.

Isle Of Man TT : Molyneux gagne la catégorie Sidecar



Le pilote HM Plant Honda Dave Molyneux et son « singe » Rick Long ont signé une victoire totalement inattendue pour cette première course Sidecar du centenaire du TT.

Après des essais calamiteux, où l'équipe s'est retrouvée confrontée à de nombreux problèmes, le binôme avait pris un assez mauvais départ, puisqu'ils n'étaient que troisième à 12,46 secondes des leaders au moment de passer l'épingle Ramsey dès le premier tour.

Après un arrêt prématuré de l'équipe de tête, Molyneux et Long remontaient en seconde position avec leur side motorisé par un bloc Honda de CBR 600 RR. Cependant le duo était encore à 10,5 secondes des nouveaux leaders John Holden et Andrew Winkle.

Après une attaque de folie, l'équipe Molyneux/Long a réussi une remontée phénoménale, puisqu'à l'issue du second tour ils ne comptaient plus que 1,86 seconde de retard, en dépit d'ailleurs de leur vitesse de pointe moins élevée par rapport à leurs concurrents.

Molyneux et Long ont alors continué leurs « flying laps » sur les 60 km que comptent le ircuit et ont terminé avec 6,5 secondes d'avance sur Holden et Winkle.
Molyneux signe sa 12eme victoire au TT, ce qui est un phénoménal résultat suite à tous les problèmes qu'ils ont rencontrés.

Dave Molyneux Driver, TT Sidecar Race A P1 :

« C'est certainement la victoire la plus inattendue de ma carrière. On est très content car on a eu tellement de problèmes électroniques que l'on croyait ne même pas finir dans les 10. Quand j'ai vu 3eme place sur le panneau, j'ai su que j'avais peut-être une chance, et j'ai attaqué aussi fort que possible. J'ai eu un gros accident l'an passé et je ne pensais même pas être assez en forme pour pouvoir courir. J'ai beaucoup travaillé pour être prêt et pour que mon épaule soit remise.
On a une autre course mercredi (aujourd'hui) et malgré nos petits problèmes j'espère qu'on pourra utiliser les données récoltées pour améliorer tout ça.
Mais dans l'ensemble je suis très satisfait, c'est d'ailleurs encore plus agréable de gagner pour l'édition du centenaire. »

HM Plant Honda Team Manager Neil Tuxworth :



« La performance de Dave et Rick est absolument incroyable. L'équipage était un des plus lents au radar, et ils avaient même à un moment 22 secondes de retard sur les leaders. Mais ils ont réussi à gagner, avec plus de 5 secondes d'avance, si l'on considère tous les problèmes qu'ils ont eu, c'est vraiment hors du commun comme performance. »

La deuxième course Sidecar se tient aujourd'hui, mercredi 6 juin.

TT de l'ile de Man : McGuinness, gagne la course Superbike une fois de plus

L'équipe Honda HM Plant a frappé fort pour la course Superbike de ce centième Tourist Trophy de l'île de Man. John McGuinness obtient sa 12ème victoire (NDLR : waow!) son coéquipier lui prend la troisième position derrière Guy Martin.



Lors du premier des six tours que comptait la course McGuinness a tout de suite pris le contrôle. Menant avec 1,86 secondes à l'épingle Ramsey. Le pilote âgé de 35 ans a dès lors assuré son premier tour sans trop prendre de risques sur le tracé long de 60 km mais a quand même été capable de le terminer avec plus d'une seconde d'avance sur Guy Martin, second.

Hutchinson a quant à lui terminé son premier tour en troisième position, à 6,28 secondes de Martin, le pilote de 27ans a maintenu sa position tout du long, finissant cette première boucle 15,26 secondes devant Martin Finnegan, quatrième.

McGuiness, fermement accroché à la première position avait accru son avance sur Martin à 6 secondes lors du premier des deux ravitaillements. Grâce à un arrêt parfait, McGuiness put augmenter son avance sur Martin tandis que Hutchinson lui aussi bien épaulé par son équipe réussit à grappiller quelques secondes à Martin.

Le deux pilotes repartirent vite, McGuinness toujours devant avec la course sous son entier contrôle. À la fin du troisième tour McGuinness menait par 22 secondes sur Martin et Hutchinson continuait en troisième position avec 43 secondes de retard sur le leader.

La piste encore un peu humide des multiples averses de la veille fit une fois de plus un arrêt aux stands parfait, seulement 40 secondes, il gagna 8 secondes sur Martin grâce à cela. Hutchinson fit son arrêt pratiquement en même temps que Martin et ressorti très près de Martin et Ian Lougher.

L'avance d'environ 26 secondes de McGuinness lui permit de piloter en prenant plus de précaution dans les deux derniers tours, il s'accorda donc la victoire de ce prestigieux Tourist Trophy du Centenaire en catégorie Superbike.

Hutchinson pour sa part franchit la ligne à une belle troisième place, 18 secondes devant son poursuivant Martin Finnegan, le podium n'est d'ailleurs composé que de Honda, et le le Top Six, uniquement de CBR 1000RR Fireblade. Belle domination.



John McGuinness, Superbike TT P1 :

« Je suis vraiment heureux car je voulais vraiment gagner ce TT du centenaire. Le niveau est très relevé et j'ai dû travailler dur tout l'hiver pour pouvoir être en forme car le TT est vraiment le point d'orgue de ma saison.
Je me suis senti très fort mais je devais tenir à distance les jeunes pilotes alors j'ai attaqué très fort dès le départ, mais il y avait des plaques d'humidité, donc j'ai quand même assuré.
Les arrêts ont été fabuleux, l'équipe a superbement bien fonctionné et elle m'a vraiment aidée.
Bien sûr il y avait beaucoup de pression au fur et à mesure que la course avançait, mais je suis si soulagé, et c'est si bon de gagner devant autant de monde. La moto a aussi super bien marché, merci à l'équipe et à Honda. Ce ne fut pas non plus une course facile, je me suis fait quelques belles frayeurs* puis quand j'ai vu que j'avais 30 secondes d'avance j'ai pu calmer le jeu dans les deux dernier tours et ramener la moto en toute sécurité. J'espère que l'on pourra répéter cela lors des prochaines courses. »

*Frayeur ou belle frayeur : Dans le vocabulaire de John McGuiness ce ou ces mot(s) n'a(ont) pas la même signification que pour le motard Lambda, en effet, si une telle chose arrive, le motard Lambda s'arrête, pose la moto et pleure, avant de remercier le bon dieu, même s'il n'est pas croyant, puis va allumer un centaine de cierges dans l'église la plus proche avant de se reconvertir comme ermite ou berger.

Ian Hutchinson, Superbike TT P3 :

« Les deux premiers tours m'ont coûté la course car je n'étais pas assez confiant à cause des taches d'humidité sur la piste. Je suis quand même content du résultat, à part les arrêts au stands, je ne pouvais pas faire beaucoup plus que de maintenir ma troisième position. Les arrêts se sont d'ailleurs très bien passés, un grand merci à mon équipe et à Honda car tout a très bien fonctionné. Par chance j'ai eu une grande avance sur le quatrième et j'ai pu la maintenir jusqu'à la fin. C'est beau d'être sur le Podium et j'espère faire encore de bons résultats pour HM Plant Honda cette semaine. »

HM Plant Team Manager, Neil Tuxworth :

« On est absolument ravi d'avoir six Honda dans le Top six. C'est une performance incroyable. Le résultat pour HM Plant est brillant, John McGuinness a contrôlé la course du début à la fin et n'a jamais été inquiété. C'était aussi le premier TT de Ian avec HM Plant et il termine sur le podium, c'est excellent. Nos quatre arrêts aux stands se sont très bien passés, mais l'équipe y a beaucoup travaillé durant les dernières semaines, donc on est vraiment très content de ce résultat. »

John McGuinness film in progress



A film about the life of TT legend John McGuinness is being filmed on the Isle of Man this week.

The film is being produced by Ridley Scott’s production company and was on location during the Centenary TT for atmosphere and racing footage.

The film stars local Onchan boy Peter Castellucci who stars as the young John McGuinness who travels to the island for the first time to watch his hero Joey Dunlop.

Andrew Barratt producer of the film said: “Peter is playing McGuinness as a child when he dreamed of competing in the TT.

We filmed him on Victoria Pier looking out to sea at the Steam Packet ferry – just like John had done when he was a boy. He dreamed of running away on the ferry and competing in the world’s most famous motorcycle race.”

Eight-year-old Castellucci said: “It was really good – and exciting. I’d like to be in another film soon – something like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Isle of Man TT: McGuinness tops 130mph to win the Senior



John McGuinness has broken the 130mph average lap speed on his way to taking the win in the Senior race at the Isle of Man TT.


McGuinness lead the race from the start with only Guy Martin able to get close to his lap times.


The record lap speed was broken on lap two and helped McGuinness on his way to a record breaking total race time of 1 hour 46 minutes 44 seconds, 54 seconds inside the record.


McGuinness is now the third most successful TT rider behind Joey Dunlop and Mike Hailwood.

Three killed at TT.

The Centenary TT races have been marred by a serious incident on the Mountain section of the course. The statement below has been issued by the Manx Motor Cycle Club Limited:

"The organisers of the Isle of Man TT Races, the Manx Motor Cycle Club Limited, can confirm that a rider has died from injuries sustained in the Senior race on Friday 8th June 2007. He was involved in an incident at the 26th milestone on the mountain and was confirmed dead at the scene.

"The incident at the 26th milestone also involved four other people. One person was also confirmed dead at the scene. An additional person was also confirmed dead after admission at Nobles hospital. Two further people were also involved in the incident and have sustained injuries.

T"he Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.

"The organisers of the event express their sympathy to the families and friends involved."
