Jonathan Rea flying at Suzuka
Jonathan Rea's Suzuka 8 Hour adventure is off to a good start. The #11 Honda CBR 1000RR from team F.C.C. TSR, that the Briton is sharing with Akiyoshi and Takahashi,
set the fastest time in the two free practice sessions heldat Suzuka.
The superiority of the team was clear,
and their best time of 2'08"789, was nearly eight tenths ahead of the next Honda (MuSASHI HARC-PRO Racing team) ridden by Kiyonari, Nakagami and Takumi Takahashi. Another Honda, this one ridden by Ito and Tamada is fourth.
The first Suzuki - in third place, amongst a pack of seven Hondas - is naturally the team
Yoshimura bike of Sakai, Aoki and Kagayama, around one second slower than the leaders.
The only Italian present, Ivan Goi, is much further back on his
Aprilia RSV4 Factory prepared by Team Aprilia D.D. Boys with A-Style. He and his teammate Tsuda are in 40th place with a best time of 2'18"790. Another Aprilia, this one ridden by an all Japanese team, is in 36th place. The two privateer
Ducati entries are at the bottom of the timesheets.
Tomorrow - or overnight in Europe -
the first official qualifying session takes place.
