PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Team unveiled in green livery
On 13 February Team PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse launched its new 2006-spec ZX-10R near the Milan Museum of Science and Technology, complete with its impressive green livery. On this pivotal occasion the Team Manager and riders expressed their opinions and observations on how the championship challenge would turn out; a championship that begins at Qatar on Saturday February 25th.
Pier Guido Pagani: “I am sure that the team has all its technical and human preparations in order, ready to face the championship campaign in competitive fashion. The last tests we carried out would seem to confirm it. We are extremely satisfied with our programme of preparations and we feel ourselves ready for the first contests. The development of the team continues apace, in all areas”.
Chris Walker: - "The new bike is a great improvement, easier to ride and more fun as well. The tests have gone very well and we have made improvements in many areas. I am sure we can carry this progress on and have many good races this year."
Regis Laconi: - "In the pre-season tests I did not go out to set the very best lap times, I preferred to try and understand the bike completely first. I have a good feeling with the whole package and, above all, with my new team. Now I cannot wait for the season to begin.”
Fonsi Nieto: - "I had the pleasure of competing in the last two races of 2005 for the team, and they have also worked very hard for me throughout our pre-season tests. The new machine is exceptional and we are sure that its performance can only get stronger throughout the year".
Denis Sacchetti: - "This year I want to be redeemed from the pessimism that marked my recent career. Delays in improving machine set-up and my hand injury stopped me from showing what I could really do. The new bike, as prepared by the team, has given me great confidence that we shall have a very good season".
Sergio Vicarelli - Senior Manager Kawasaki Motor Europe Italy: - "Team PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse has carried out an exceptional task in pre-season testing and that indicates a promising season for us. We are an official team and we will run a strong 2006-spec ZX-10R. This machine has been born from a completely new development programme, from the chassis to the motor. We expect to be able to deliver good results".
The day continued with a private visit to the inside of the submarine Enrico Toti, with great enthusiasm shown by all visitors there present.
Moreover, on 14 February Team PSG-1 Kawasaki visited the Institute Giannina Gaslini, with its pilots Chris Walker, Regis Laconi (WSB) and Denis Sacchetti (FIM Superstock 1000) all in attendance. The three riders visited some of the pavilions within the institute, wearing their new team colours. An important appointment for the Kawasaki Team, which has now returned to Genoa to make final preparations for start of the championship.
