Official: Toseland turns down MotoGP - for now.
James Toseland has officially confirmed that he will stay with Ten Kate - and more significantly Honda - in the World Superbike championship next season.
As reported by
Crash.net on Tuesday, Toseland and Ten Kate are currently on the verge of concluding a new deal for 2007 - meaning that the 2004 world champion has turned down an offer to switch to MotoGP with the d'Antin Ducati team.
"After careful consideration and while my MotoGP aspirations are still a priority, I would like to reclaim the World Superbike Championship crown for Honda and Ten Kate Racing," read a short statement on Toseland's official website. "I am therefore happy to wait one more year.
"The Ten Kate Honda has been fantastic this year. I enjoy working with the team - it is a highly professional outfit. After a strong winter testing programme and development of the Electronic Management System, the bike will put me in a strong position for next year's championship."
