Vincent and Litjens given Arie Molenaar nod
News, 22/12/05

Team Arie Molenaar have placed their confidence in two riders who will combine youth and experience as his team makes a double assault on the 125cc and 250cc classes next season, with Frenchman Arnaud Vincent and Dutch youngster Joey Litjens the duo they have opted for.

The French rider, a former 125 World Champion, will hope to forget what proved a difficult year with the 250cc Fantic team to take on a new challenge in the quarter-litre class. “I am convinced by the potential of this new challenge with Honda and the Dutch team which should allow me to fight for the best privateer title,” Vincent stated. “I saw how fast Jakub Srmz’s bike was this year and that convinced me to make this decision.” “In Holland, we do not have any 250cc riders who are up to Grand Prix level yet,” explained team manager Arie Miller. “We considered various riders from different riders and eventually settled on Vincent, European champion in 1997 and 125 World Champion in 2002. He has a lot of experience and is a very fine rider.” Litjens is a product of the Dutch team’s academy system. He is just 15 years of age but took part in the final rounds of the Spanish 125 championship this season.

“As manager of the only Dutch team in MotoGP I feel obligated to giove a chance to young talents from my country in the World Championship,” added Miller. “Joey has ridden on a Honda for a few seasons and has a hard season ahead of him. We are confident he can gain enough experience to demonstrate his potentail next season.”
