Pedrosa happy to play it cool.
While the more experienced runners may have moaned about the cold and wet conditions at last weekend's pre-season MotoGP test in Barcelona, Repsol Honda rookie Dani Pedrosa admitted that he could only benefit.
Even after wet weather affected testing in both Malaysia and Australia, the young Spaniard made light of significant weather changes in his homeland, with cold temperatures and an intense rain shower affecting the now traditional BMW shoot-out on Sunday, and continued to make progress towards his MotoGP race debut.
"It was cold and the tyres didn't get warm enough, and that hindered the bike from having the right reactions, but it's further experience that we were missing and it was good for the next few races, because the conditions are going to be very similar everywhere except in Qatar," he explained, "It's always important to test at a circuit a few weeks before we go there to race, even if you never know if the weather conditions are going to be the same - although, in this case, they may be very similar."
While he wasn't interested in entering the race for the BMW, on offer to the quickest runner in Sunday's 'happy hour', because he didn't want to risk his machine in the conditions, Pedrosa admitted that the weather has caused a few headaches in the Repsol camp.
"It was a shame because, on Sunday, we were hoping to test things we had deeply analysed the day before," he revealed, "It was very dangerous due to the low temperatures although, in the end, I went out with 20 minutes left and I did a few laps. I just hope that things work out better at Jerez this week.
"I still see myself very far from what I can really achieve. I cannot arrive at the first race knowing the same things as the others who for example, have been racing for five years in the class. Not as regards results, but as regards sensations on the bike. We haven't fixed a position for the handlebars or the footrests and things like that yet. I cannot say this is the definitive bike and this is the way I'm going to have it always. We are making changes every day and that means that we're still inexperienced in this class."
visiblement Pedrosa n'a pas encore trouvé son bonheur sur la honda donc probablement pas le set up. A voir ses resultats en essais (sauf cette fois) cela promet lorsqu'il les aura trouvé !!!
