Former 125 and 250cc grand prix rider, Chaz Davies, has signed to ride in the AMA Supersport and Formula Xtreme championships in 2007.
Although just 19-years-old, the Briton has five seasons of grand prix racing under his belt - although all were spent on often uncompetitive privateer machinery, first in the 125cc class and then, from 2003-2006, in the quarter-litre category.
Davies saw his 2006 grand prix campaign end early due to funding problems for the Campetella team, but Chaz soon turned his attention to other racing possibilities - including a ride for the Celtic Racing team in the season-ending Mid-Ohio round of the AMA championships.
Although the event also marked his four-stroke road racing debut, Davies finished a brilliant fifth in the Supersport race - and was only narrowly beaten by newly crowned champion Jamie Hacking.
Boosted by that fiery performance, Davies has now signed with the Yamaha supported Celtic Racing team for the full 2007 season and will be travelling to Florida in early December to participate in the Daytona tyre tests.
